About The Cheese Board American Bistro & Catering Company

The Cheese Board opened in 1981 as Reno’s first specialty cheese and wine boutique, and in the years since, it has evolved into a popular Reno lunch eatery and full-service catering company.

To its loyal fans, The Cheese Board is memorable for its fun, relaxed dining room and delicious food, featuring fresh and unique soups, salads, sandwiches, entrées, desserts, and wines by the bottle or by the glass.

  • Our hours are Monday – Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • We are a full-service catering company specializing in business, casual, event, and wedding catering, featuring custom menus, lunch packages, and event planning.
  • After hours, we welcome in-house private parties with seating for up to 50, and cocktail receptions for up to 70 in our stylish dining room at 247 California in Reno.

  • Krista Kintop Phillips
    Krista Kintop Phillips Owner/Director of Catering Sales

    Krista was born and raised in Reno, Nevada and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada in art and design. After years of experience in the food industry, she joined the team in 2006 as assistant manager at our sister restaurant, Cafe Musée. Krista shares the same passion for food and wine that has made The Cheese Board a favorite among northern Nevada’s fabulous “foodies.” As sales director and event coordinator, Krista uses her experience and enthusiasm to bring your vision to reality. Out of the office, Krista continues to develop her passion for food, wine, art, and travel. Most of all, she enjoys life in Reno with her husband, Jeremy, friends, and family.

  • Caitlin Fletcher
    Caitlin Fletcher Owner/Restaurant Manager

    For Caitlin Fletcher, food has always been an important part of her life, especially eating it! Born and raised in Reno, Nevada, she turned her love for food into a career earning her bachelor’s degree in culinary arts management from UNLV. Her studies sent her abroad to Switzerland which allowed excursions to neighboring countries including Italy, France and Germany to further her education on cuisine. It was there that she developed a passion for wine. Caitlin’s experience in wine sales gave her the opportunity to taste and pair wines with menus from some of the best restaurants in Northern Nevada and Lake Tahoe. As well as Caitlin’s knowledge of food and wine, her true calling is in hospitality. With over 6 years of experience in the front of the house, her and her team work to create a comfortable and yummy experience for everyone who visits The Cheese Board. When not at the restaurant, you can find Caitlin taking full advantage of what Reno’s backyard has to offer including skiing, biking, and training for her next race.

  • Kaimi Coonrad
    Kaimi Coonrad Executive Chef

    Kaimi, who hails from Hawaii, grew up in a cooking-oriented family that traveled the world and exposed him to diverse ethnic cuisines, from the tastes of the Pacific Rim to the exotic fare of western Africa. Kaimi earned his stripes in kitchens ranging from the Island Fish House and the Westin Wailea Beach Resort in Maui to Robert’s Market in Woodside, the University Club in Palo Alto, the Hotel Sofitel in Redwood Shores, and Silver Legacy’s Sterlings restaurant. He has also trained at both the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco and the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone. After moving to Portola to serve as Chef at Alpine Hills Country Club, Kaimi was drawn to Northern Nevada by its wonderful quality of life. As executive chef at The Cheese Board, Kaimi oversees the day-to-day culinary operations of the bistro as well as all catered events.
